February Sales End As Our Best Month Ever on eBay

I hate to admit it but as slow as sales have been in February it will have to be logged in as our best month ever on eBay with over 1400.00 in sales and still one more day to go.

Now I know 1400.00 isn't big money to many ebayers but for us it is pretty good. To reach our monthly minimum for paying our bills we only need 1900.00 a month from online sales so for us just starting out with just over 600 listings and to nearly make that goal it is very encouraging.

The road ahead is going to be difficult for us, we now have to hit a 100 item a week listing average to meet the minimum listing goals we have set for ourselves so that's going to be no easy task but we are definitely up to the challenge! 

We have traveled over 1200 miles in the last 2 weeks gathering new inventory and had a blast doing it but now it's time to do the hard work of cleaning, photographing and listing. The way it will go for us is to photograph for 3 days and to list for 3 days with 1 day for cleaning. We will continue that until we run out of inventory again.

Now me and my partner will do everything together from cleaning and photography to listing so that makes it much easier. On the days we list I will do 17 listing and she will do 16 listing for a total of 33 per day, I will do an extra one sometime during the week to get that magic 100.

Unfortunately there just isn't enough quality inventory close by for us to just go sourcing locally each week but we like to travel so that's not an issue. New Orleans is only 100 miles from us and we love the Big Easy so that's always a fun trip.

I have tried to figure out why we did so good in February and honestly I don't know. I took a lot of low dollar best offers and while we did have some higher dollar sales we only had 5 that were 50.00 or more with the highest being a 150.00 jacket. Almost 100% of our February sales were clothing and shoes.

I don't think it's really possible to figure out why people buy what they buy or figure out what they want to buy when it comes to ebay so I guess the trick is to just keep listing like crazy and the sales will come. I'm sure there is some math to what I'm saying somewhere like your going to sell such and such percent of everything you list but who knows.

    Congratulations - You guys did just Awesome this month!

    Good to see your analysis of what you think you did to achieve these results.

    I think that there is a low-price / high volume model that works very well on EBay. I strive for higher-end items and so my volume is lower. But that's okay - everyone has to find their niche and stick to what works for them. And clearly, you guys are hitting your stride very nicely.

  2. Traveling to source for inventory is one of my favorite things to do in this business. I just love traveling to new cities and neighborhoods that I've never been to before!
