Ooh, I like that metal gear! That will definitely sell. The birds are so unusual that I'm sure someone will have to have them. Let us know what happens with those. Go ahead and have that rummage sale and ditch all that old merch. Put it behind you and move on or post a picture of the storage unit on CL and take offers for the whole lot. Think of all the time you spent finding that stuff and the bargains you got. That all goes down the drain every month you pay the storage fee. You could make some quick cash to buy better things or to put aside for Christmas shopping or a vacation.
I knew you guys were always talking about steampunk and that's what made me think it would sell. I have no idea what kind of price to put on those items so going to have to pull something out of the air. Deidre is on me big time to have the rummage sale, lol
Tony, I am SO happy to hear that you guys had such a great week of sales on Ebay. Congrats! Sales have definitely picked up for me, and I am hopeful the trend continues. Right now, I am just 2 items away from 1200, and after I hit that goal, I think I can relax a bit, knowing that I hit my listing goal for the year. However, I am picking up speed with listings, lately, which is pretty amazing. I guess that it's a function of doing it over and over, and just getting more proficient at it. I still cannot imagine listing 40 items a day like other clothing sellers do. As for your storage locker, perhaps if you decide to list 1 old item for every 2 new ones, you can make progress toward getting all your older inventory liquidated. It may take a while to get things out of storage, and maybe some of them are not even worth selling. But if you just start with one box at a time, you will make progress, I believe. I had 3 bins of clothing in my basement that I bought 2 years ago, and this summer I decided to tackle those bins. So far, I have 2 of the bins processed, and I am ready to tackle that last bin. Somehow, the dread of tackling those bins is worse than actually doing the work. And from this experience, I definitely learned to scale back my shopping, in terms of quantity, and to up the quality. I will let you know when I get that final bin completely listed; and I bet it takes me over a month - but as long as I am making progress, I think that is what matters. Reminds me of that saying about Rome wasn't built In a day - so our backlog isn't going to go away in one day, either!Hope your sales continue to improve, and that you have a great week counting puzzle pieces (ha!), and listing!
Tony, I just had to let you know that I officially hit 1,200 listings yesterday - woohoo!! It felt so great to actually hit that mark, after flirting with it for a week or so. When I started selling on Ebay, I had a goal of listing 200 items, because I thought it would have great sales if I had that many listings. Boy, was I wrong, or what??!!?? Then I thought that my sales would become more reliable if I hit 800 items, but no, that was not true, so I upped the number to 1,000, but again, it did not lead to very reliable sales. Now, I think I have stopped focusing on the concept of reliable sales anymore. Instead, I accept the ebbs and flows of retail, and just keep listing. I have no idea where I will be by the end of this year, when I set my personal goals again. But I certainly am hoping that I can keep up my listing momentum, and keep moving through the bins of backlog. I just brought up my last bin that was hiding in my basement for the past 2 years, and I started photographing those items today. The quality of my older items is not what I would buy today, but I am still going to list everything, just to try and clear out all this backlog. My process is to photograph lots more than I actually get listed each day, so I have a very big backlog of items photographed, and not listed. But this is okay with me, because it allows me to just focus on the listing process once it sit down and get started. I think of my ebay process as being like a factory, and right now, my factory is good at some of the up-front processes, but back logged on the listing part at the end. But, as I have said before, I am working through all the backlog, albeit slowly, and each step forward feels just great!Hope you guys are having a productive week, and looking forward to hearing all about it!
Our sales have doubled from the time we had 500 to 1000 and I'm hoping it will triple when we get to 1500 but there's just no way to know until we get there I'm thinking it's gonna take more like 2000 for us to actually triple. we have so much stuff in backlog it's not even funny however all of that stuff is low dollar items and I'm just so against Filling in our store with low dollar items I can't even look at that stuff right now. Everybody tells me to just list that stuff but I know what will happen if we do that if your item is $10 then you're going to sell $10 if your item is $30 then you're going to sell $30 the math is pretty simple. I think the only solution for us at this point is to have a garage sale and get rid of all that low dollar stuff and use the money to buy better items.sales have been really good this week I think we hit about $700 so far
Tony, You guys are very lucky that your sales doubled as you doubled your number of listings. I had expected the same thing to happen in my store, but it did not. I think I must have gotten a new-seller boost in the beginning or something, because after that, my sales just stayed level. I definitely did not experience sales growth to match my inventory growth, like you did. However, since June, I have been running very frequent MM sales, and I plan to continue through the fourth quarter, just to see if I can get better numbers. Right now, my sales seem to be improving. I will only know if I am on the right track now, if I can keep up the sales momentum for a sustained period of time. And that means more than one week of good sales - lol! Honestly, this has been one of my best weeks ever.So happy to hear your week has been great.
we did great the first week then it went down hill. Still looking for the secret formula Pat, lol.
